Abstract: Cette intervention sera l'occasion de présenter mes recherches en cours sur l'histoire de la psychologie comparée et de l'éthologie européenne, ayant donné naissance à un champ disciplinaire plus récent, qui enquête sur la « cognition sociale » (humaine et non-humaine). Il s'agira notamment de s'interroger sur la mise en œuvre pratique de ce comparatisme quand il est question d'investiguer les capacités sociales des individus : comment le « social » est-il conceptualisé ? Le social des éthologues est-il le même que le social des psychologues, ou que celui des sociologues ?

Abstract: This presentation will be an opportunity to present my ongoing research on the history of comparative psychology and European ethology, which gave rise to a more recent disciplinary field that investigates ‘social cognition’ (human and non-human). In particular, it will examine the practical application of this comparative approach when investigating the social capacities of individuals: how is the ‘social’ conceptualised? Is the social of ethologists the same as the social of psychologists, or that of sociologists?
