Title: Individual differences in personality: evidence from network analysis, longitudinal models, natural language processing and machine learning

Abstract: 

"What is personality" and "how to measure it" are among the oldest questions in psychology, with numerous conceptualisations and instruments to measure it been proposed throughout the discipline’s history. The most influential contemporary frameworks for understanding personality include the Big Five—openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism—and the Dark Triad—narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy. Despite the long history, many questions remain unanswered—particularly how personality is expressed in everyday behaviour (-s) and shapes important life outcomes. In this talk, I will present findings from my recent research addressing these questions with evidence coming from network and longitudinal analysis of behavioral data, machine learning of eye-tracking data in ecologically-valid settings, automatic analysis of natural language (texts), and experimental studies of face-to-face/zoom communication.
